Garry Thind – I am seeking re-election as a Trustee with the Surrey School Board. I have resided in Surrey for over 27 years and have served as a Trustee for the Surrey School Board for the past 12 years. It has been my distinct pleasure to serve the parents and students of Surrey. My wife, Nav, and I have three children, two of whom are currently attending Sullivan Heights Secondary School in Surrey.
I have previously held the position of President for the Rotary Club of Surrey, and I am currently serving as the head of the BC region for the Pingalwara Society of Ontario, a non-profit charitable organization, where I have successfully raised over $5.4 million since 2002. I actively participate and contribute in the community initiatives and will continue to do so.
Presently, I am serving as the Vice-Chair of the Board. As a Trustee with the Surrey School Board, I have contributed to numerous committees since 2014, including serving as Chair for the Learning Liaison Committee, the Surrey Board Of Trade, Traditional Schools, District Principal Selection, Secondary Vice-Principal Selection, ELL Consortium and the Budget Committee.
With over 14 years of management experience and more than 13 years of experience in Sales and Marketing, I am currently self-employed as a full-time Realtor with Century21 Coastal Realty Ltd., based in Surrey. I have diligently worked to represent the community and all parents and students of Surrey, understanding that effective policy development and accountability guide our direction, and that by establishing high standards, our students are empowered to achieve more. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to continue my service.
