Trustee Gary Tymoschuk

Gary Tymoschuk – I am seeking re-election after 12 years on the Surrey Board of Education, where I have been proud to provide strong governance and responsible leadership for the largest school district in British Columbia.

I currently serve as Board Chair and have previously served as Board Vice-Chair, as well as Chair and member of several Board committees and external liaison committees. I believe effective governance is built on collaboration, sound decision-making, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and respectful relationships with students, families, staff, education partners, and the BC Ministry of Education.

I spent more than 20 years in senior leadership roles in both the private and non-profit sectors. I also had the privilege of serving two terms on Surrey City Council and previously as a Surrey School Trustee. Throughout my career, I have served on more than 20 committees, commissions, and boards, including many leadership roles as Chair and Vice-Chair.

My wife and I have proudly called Fleetwood home since 1986, and our three adult children are all graduates of Surrey Schools.

If re-elected, I will continue working collaboratively with my Board colleagues to advocate for Surrey’s fair share of education funding, strengthen relationships with our education partners and stakeholders, support safe, caring, and inclusive schools, and help ensure every Surrey student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
